Spring Sports Balls of Fire

In our newsletter yesterday, there was discussion of how poorly the spring sports of BYU performed last week.

We received lots of messages reminding us that there are a few Cougar spring sports currently doing quite well.

The BYU men's and women's rugby teams have reached the top echelons of their respective sports nationally. They women forfeited their last game because of a scheduling glitch that would have had them playing on Sunday.

The men are currently involved in the national tourney. They won the national championship last year.

The surprise team of the spring is the BYU men's tennis team. They are currently 19-5 on the year and undefeated in conference play. They face UNLV this weekend in Provo. Admittance is free and they are giving away free pizza.

Basketball isn't a spring sport, but basketball recruiting sure is. Stephen Rogers, the 6-8 juco wing from Mesa Community College will decide between BYU and Utah State and announce his decision either tomorrow, Wednesday or early Thursday.
