COMING, GOING and STAYING

Coming...Stephen Rogers, a 6-8, wing from Mesa Community College in Arizona. He is the latest signee for Dave Rose and his BYU basketball program. Rogers will take the minutes of Jonathan Tavernari and Tyler Haws. We have seen Rogers play this past season in person and on tape. He is a very good offensive player. We think he is an ordinary rebounder and defender. When it comes to shooting the ball, he might make Jonathan Tavernari look reserved and reticent.

Going...Michael Loyd, Jr. He is leaving the BYU basketball program. No specific reason was given, but the fact that he will have only one year of eligibility to play at the Division I level, says that there is probably a lot more to this story than was released in the official BYU press release.

Despite Loyd's late season great play, he wasn't going to see an big increase in minutes on the floor, in our opinion, next season. He is still a point guard and the point guard and two guard minutes were going to be eaten up by Jimmer Fredette and Jackson Emery.

Staying...Jimmer Fredette, the 6-2 shooting star for BYU, will have a very small window this coming week to work out for NBA teams. No team will guarantee him that he will be a first-round selection in the upcoming NBA draft. That means he will be back for his final season at BYU.
